Why does Ajinomoto make food so tasty?
Ajinomoto is simply monosodium glutamate or MSG, which has been used as a flavor enhancer for a very long time. It has an umani taste that intensifies the meaty, savory flavor of food, as naturally occurring glutamate does in foods such as stews and meat soups. This same substance has been marketed under a number of brand names, such as Accent, Tasting Powder, and Sazón.
And contrary to popular belief, studies have shown that MSG does not cause problems like headaches, and other discomfort in normal doses. If one consumes an excess amount, it may cause problems, but this has not been test as thoroughly.
